The device will monitor my steps and my physical activity as well as monitor my sleep. Along with having the ability to log my results wirelessly the website provides a great way to get metrics about how I am working my body, both physically and mentally. I know I don't sleep well and having some sort of metrics that show me and can give me a better idea of how much sleep I need will I feel make me work harder to sleep more (it's currently 2:00 AM and I have taken a tylenol PM) this next year.
The FitBit Monitor only costs $99.00 and I really like the idea of it. The access to the basic features on Fitbit.com are free, however, the premium access is only $49.00 for the year. This is a far smaller chunk of money to pay than $18.00 X 12 Months.
I also purchased a FitBook, which is a book that has a way to for you to enter in all of your information about what you ate, what your activity was, and how you felt that day. I can use this in times where I don't have the ability to log on my phone and log in information. Having no excuse to not exercise and have a reason to keep my self accountable is one my goals in 2012.
Here's the book:
We'll see what happens.
